Peter & Paul Presentation Boards

I feel the presentation went very well today. I felt more confident because there wasn't that many people taking part within the brief & some was unable to come and present. I feel that I got my concept & message across clearly maybe the visuals could have been stronger so they could see how I would have liked it too look.

Peter & Paul Mock-ups.

These are the mock-ups that I am going to put within my presentation, they told us not to take finals to the presentation so therefore I didn't want to complete the design too much as I also didn't have a lot of time left.

The Welcome sign would be made on a wood background with pencils saying graphic and then nails saying design.

The hard work would be a mixture of the wood & neon orange acrylic.

Development

I thought that this would have been the best quote to chose as this is about people feeling guilt for wasting there time when in actual fact it could be a good time waster. I would out real clocks all at different time frames from different parts of the world. And the type would be in wood. This would all be aligned through justification.

Then I thought about having the clocks as part of the words by using them as O. So I put the quote all in caps and then found clocks that looked vintage online (just to mock-up, as real clocks will be used). Although, the more i work on it, the more I think that this might not be the right message to put on the wall as some people will take it more literally.

Then I started working on my next favourite quote. This is the hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard. This goes to show that when you are on this course you can't just get by, by being brainy and not having to revise you have to work hard to get results and finish things off fully which takes a lot of hard work & determination.

This is me developing the work BEAT as they was all hand developed type.I wanted to make sure all the strokes were the same so therefore used the guides on illustrator.

This is the final outcome, I am happy with this & I think the neon orange acrylic & wood will really make it stand out and look smart against the white wall.

This is the beginning of the welcome sign, I have took inspiration from a circular sign I found when doing my research. I like the mixture of block typeface & the hand scripted fonts.
This is the rough sketch of my sign, I would also put design within the circle. But I don't have time to develop it too much as I need to make my presentation.

This is my final step I am going to take for the mock-up of the wall, you can see the aim of the wall and therefore I don't think I would do anymore. I would have liked to mock up on the wall how it would have looked like but my photoshop skills are not up to scratch and I believe this would take a long time.

Maybe if I have some free time I will expand the brief to see how this would actually work, I would like to make this even if I didn't win the pitch as I think it would be exciting and interesting skills to learn from it.

Quote Research

I was thinking about creating a type layout on the wall and therefore wanted a good quote that wasn't too cheesy or sensitive. So I did research into a few ideas to get a quote relevant to our course and the people on it.

I like the quote hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. I think this is very true to this course even if some people have a talent for design it is nothing without hard work.

Also the time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted. I like this as everything will always be inspiring you therefore you will always think you are wasting time on this course because you need every minute when in fact it is just making you more inspired.

Peter & Paul Blank Wall Research

I thought this could be a nice idea so that people can post where they have been and this can be continued each year and therefore be there in many years to come.

I like the idea of having pattern placed subtly so that it isnt too much for the corridor.

Creating a blackboard so that someone can create a type layout every other month.....

Vinyl on a wall, this could be boring but it also could work really well if the type created was beautifully crafted.

I think this is a good idea as I believe that we need a welcome wall, you can't tell you have entered the graphic design studio so then therefore will give us some differentiation.

I like these, more of an installation, I think the neon paint with the wood works really well. This is very effective and will create a vibrant place to visit.

I like the idea of using objects relevant to the word very interesting. This is effective, and also allows stronger concept.

The use of pencils is a clever idea and would be relevant to our work ethic.

I like the idea of bringing in a touch of neon, to brighten the place up.

 Again this is very effective.
