Tutorial With Amber

Today was my first tutorial of the year...

I found it very useful & felt much more positive after leaving the session. I had some questions that I wanted to ask Amber and these were the answers:

Is it bad that I have thought about my outcome first and then arrange the brief around it?
She said no because this will then be something that you want to gain from level 6 and therefore thats the aim of setting our own briefs. Although, this is not necessarily how you are going be set briefs in the real world, you will still have to answer briefs from live briefs set by others.

After Effects?
We will having tutorials next year about after effects, with Simon & Danny. Which is a good idea due to the need of me and Daisy collabing and this been a strong competitor as a focus of the brief.

We then talked about my briefs and she gave me her thoughts:

Macmillian Coffee Morning Promo - She liked this idea of giving this event promo some life and she agreed the simple design is not inviting & welcoming etc... She then mentioned that I should create it as an actual event, this would then give me an actual deadline. Which then I could get images of interaction with my work.

Perfume Installation - She told me that I should pick a brand and look at limited edition perfumes within that rather than creating a new perfume altogether. She also mentioned that I could extend this into more than one brief so that if it doesn't get finished I would have something substantial still. So the packaging of the bottle and then the installation & then the promotion & the event as a third possibly. Think about the sense of the perfume and make it something that people want to touch.

Stationary Set - She asked me why I was doing this and I said because I like buying it. But then she said why so I said I like making lists and writing in the books before typing it up. She then said that I should take that idea of like making lists into something further rather than just creating a generic stationary set.

Christmas Card & Wrap Brief - I said that I wouldn't do this anymore because of the festive brief that is already set but then she said that I could tie these together so therefore has more connection in my porfolio. Also a concept that can be transferred rather than generic christmas cards.

Tea Packaging - I explained my love for tea and the part of the process in which really annoyed me is the teabag carrying from the side to the bin, drips everywhere and nowhere to put them. So thinking about the concept of solving this issue. Which she really liked.

JamJar Packaging
Treehouse Resort
Flowershop Branding
These are further briefs that she didn't go into detail about but said that they sounded good and flowed with my dissertation.

I then asked questions about the other modules:

PPP- Self branding a brief within the PP module she said yes...
Placements - Should I ask for a placement outright? Do you know of any crafty based studios?
Always visit and then ask for placement, take your work and it will happen naturally.
Duke street studios will be good as they are very hands on and have onsite facilities. Hungry
Sandwich Club are based within there and therefore this would be good to visit them and have
         a look at other studios.

COP - I told her that I am struggling with finding quotes out of books as they are mainly visual.
She told me to use it like a brief, set my question and research only in things that matter to
           that.
Now think about Aura, colour theory, the visually impaired.
